Banyak persoalan hukum dan kemasyarakatan yang sangat rumit dan tidak bisa dijawab secara normatif tekstual, oleh karenanya pendekatan ilmu sosial, khususnya antropologi sangat menolong untuk dapat menjelaskan tentang bagaimanakah hukum bekerja dan beroperasi dalam keseharian hidup masyarakat.
