Begitu banyak kemuliaan dan keutamaan yang disandangnya. Barangkali kemuliaan tertinggi yang sedang diberikan Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala kepadanya –setelah nikmat Iman dan Islam– adalah kedudukannya sebagai bibi Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam yang masuk Islam—menurut pendapat yang kuat. Di samping itu. Dia adalah ibunda Hawari (penolong) Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, salah satu dari sepuluh orang yang dijamin masuk Surga. Cukuplah semua itu sebagai kemuliaan bagi Shafiyyah Binti Abdul Muththalib. Ia terlahir dari keluarga terpandang dan disegani. Ayahnya adalah Abdul Muththalib, seorang pembesar Quraisy dan ibunya adalah Halah binti Wahab, bibi Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam dari jalur ibu yang notabene juga dikenal sebagai keluarga terpandang. Pernikahannya yang pertama adalah dengan Al-Harits bin Harb bin Umaiyah, saudara Abu Sufyan pemimpin Bani Umaiyah. Setelah Al-Harits meninggal, saudara Ummul Mukminin Khadijah. Dan darinya terlahir Zubair dan Sa’ib. Ketika Allah mengutus Nabi Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam seabagai rasul, banyak kaum Quraisy yang menentang dan sedikit sekali yang menerima dakwahnya, baik dari kerabat maupun yang lainnya. Dan ketika Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala menurunkan ayat, “Dan berilah peringatan kepada kerabat-kerabatmu yang terdekat.” (QS. Asy-Syu’aro: 214) Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam menyeru kepada semua kerabatnya yang tua, muda, laki-laki, dan wanita. Kemudian beliau shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam naik ke bukit Shofa dan berseru, “Wahai Fathmah binti Muhammad! Wahai Shafiyyah binti Abdul Muththalib! Wahai Bani Abdul Muththalib! Aku tidak mampu menolong kalian dari adzab Allah sedikitpun, (Jika kalian menghendaki sesuatu dariku maka) mintalah hartaku sesuka kalian.” (HR. Bukhori dan Muslim) Kemudian bergabunglah Shafiyyah radhiallahu’anha dalam bahtera Islam bersama putranya Zubair bin Awwam radhiallahu’anhu dan orang-orang pertama memeluk Islam, berlayar menghadang ombak dan gelombang dengan keimanan dan keyakinan menuju keridhaan Allah dan Rasul-Nya.
