Saat ini, pemenuhan kewajiban pajak bisa dilakukan secara online. Berbagai kemudahan dapat diterima Wajib Pajak (WP), antara lain proses yang lebih cepat karena bisa online 24 jam dan bisa dilakukan di mana saja, sehingga tidak harus antre di kantor pelayanan pajak. Selain itu, data yang diterima oleh Ditjen Pajak menjadi lebih akurat dan terjamin validitasnya karena dimasukkan sendiri oleh WP. Sistem online tersebut juga bersifat user friendly, yakni WP dibimbing secara bertahap dengan menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang disediakan secara online. Tanpa disadari, WP telah mengisi SPT secara otomatis. Data Ditjen Pajak menunjukkan bahwa pemenuhan kewajiban pajak secara online merupakan metode yang praktis. Buktinya, dari lima puluh ribuan WP yang melaporkan SPT secara online pada tahun sebelumnya menjadi satu juta WP pada tahun 2014.
