The research papers and case studies contained in this volume explore the technique of group work in higher education. The contributors explore project work, self-development groups, the management of group projects, peer evaluation and learning-team techniques.

The increasingly widespread use of group-work, as reflected by the chapters in
this book, is adding significantly to the learning experience of our students. Our
major challenge for the future is to address the many issues that group-work has
raised. From the evidence here, practitioners in group-based learning are
already actively working on many of these, but it seems appropriate to raise some
