Manajemen merupakan suatu proses mengatur yang terdiri dari tindakan-tindakan perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pergerakan, dan pengendalian yang dilakukan untuk menentukan maksud, mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan melalui pemberdayaan sumber daya manusia yang ada dan sumber daya lainnya. Lahirnya konsep manajemen di tengah meningkatnya kebutuhan masyarakat yang beragam dan terjadi ketidakseimbangan pengembangan teknis dengan kemampuan sosial ini mampu menjawab semua kebutuhan-kebutuhan tersebut sehingga tercapailah tujuan yang diinginkan. Maka dari itu, tujuan manajemen itu sendiri adalah menyadarkan bagaimana berbagai pihak dengan perspektif yang berbeda mampu mengelola, membina, mengurus, menata, melaksanakan, mengkoordinasi, dan memimpin suatu institusi, organisasi atau lembaga pendidikan dengan tujuan yang diinginkan mampu terealisasi dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Buku ini disusun dengan mempertimbangkan keberadaan mata kuliah Manajemen Pendidikan di perguruan tinggi yang ada khususnya pada fakultas pendidikan dan keguruan dan pentingnya keberadaan dan peranan seorang pemimpin dalam lembaga pendidikan. Buku ini diharapkan mampu menambah informasi dan ilmu pengetahuan secara teoritis dan pendekatan-pendekatan yang terdapat dalam ilmu manajemen untuk selanjutnya diimplementasikan dalam aktivitas pendidikan dan kehidupan masyarakat.

Foundations of Cognitive Science

Cognitive science arose in the 1950s when it became apparent that a number of disciplines, including psychology, computer science, linguistics, and philosophy, were fragmenting. Perhaps owing to the field's immediate origins in cybernetics, as well as to the foundational assumption that cognition is information processing, cognitive science initially seemed more unified than psychology. However, as a result of differing interpretations of the foundational assumption and dramatically divergent views of the meaning of the term information processing, three separate schools emerged: classical cognitive science, connectionist cognitive science, and embodied cognitive science. Examples, cases, and research findings taken from the wide range of phenomena studied by cognitive scientists effectively explain and explore the relationship among the three perspectives. Intended to introduce both graduate and senior undergraduate students to the foundations of cognitive science, Mind, Body, World addresses a number of questions currently being asked by those practicing in the field: What are the core assumptions of the three different schools? Selalu saja ada hal menarik dari sosok wanita, baik dalam kaitannya dengan pribadinya sebagai wanita dengan segala spesifikasinya, maupun wanita dalam hubungannya dengan hukum fikih. Banyak hal yang secara spesifik diterapkan khusus terhadap wanita dan tidak berlaku pada selainnya. Inilah diantara perlakuan khusus Islam terhadap kaum Hawa yang menunjukkan agungnya kedudukan mereka dimata syari’at. Berangkat dari kenyataan tersebut, kami bersyukur bahwa buku ini bisa hadir di tangan pembaca sekalian. Buku ini diharapkan mampu memberikan referensi bagi wanita yang ingin mengetahui hukum syari’at terkait dengan segala kondisinya. Kelebihan buku ini dibanding buku sejenisnya adalah pembahasannya yang komprehensif dipandang dari sudut empat madzhab. Kami meyakininya sebagai kelebihan karena tidak sedikit kaum wanita yang masih ragu dan bingung mengambil keputusan di tengah perbedaan pandangan para ulama. Padahal semua itu justru bisa menjadi rahmat, bila umat Islam mampu melihatnya dengan kacamata rahmat pula. Sebaliknya, bila melihat perbedaan itu dengan mengedepankan ego eksklusivitas belaka, bukan tidak mungkin malah perpecahan yang akan timbul. Tujuan kami menerbitkan buku ini tak lain adalah agar kaum muslimah dapat menjadikan setiap aktivitasnya sebagai rangkaian ibadah kepada Allah dan dalam rangka bertaqarrub kepada-Nya. Asumsi ini berangkat dari pemahaman bahwa setiap aktivitas bisa bernilai ibadah manakala pelakunya mampu mengorientasikannya untuk ibadah. Unruk mempermudah orientasi itu diperlukan pemahaman hukum syari’at terhadap apa yang dapat dilakukan dalam rangka ibadah kepada-Nya. Dengan demikian, segala perilaku dan kegiatan rutin harian yang melelahkannya bisa mendatangkan banyak maslahat bagi dunia hingga akhiratnya. Di atas semua itu, sebagai sesama muslim, penerbit merasa terpanggil untuk turut menyebarkan kemaslahatan dunia akhirat kepada seluruh kaum muslimin, khususnya bagi kaum wanita. Pada gilirannya, penerbit merasa bersyukur dapat menghadirkan buku yang sangat penting ini. Harapan kami semoga Allah berkenan menunjukkan kebenaran dan menghapuskan segala bentuk penyimpangan. The Theory and Practice of Microcredit

The remarkable speed at which microcredit has expanded around the world in the last three decades has piqued the curiosity of practitioners and theorists alike. By developing innovative ways of making credit available to the poor, the idea of microcredit has challenged many traditional assumptions about both poverty reduction strategies and financial markets. While this has encouraged new theorising about how microcredit works, the practice of microcredit has itself evolved, often in unpredictable ways, outpacing the development of theory. The Theory and Practice of Microcredit aims to remedy this imbalance, arguing that a proper understanding of the evolution of practice is essential both for developing theories that are relevant for the real world and for adopting policies that can better realize the full potential of microcredit. By drawing upon their first-hand knowledge of the nature of this evolution in Bangladesh, the birthplace of microcredit, the authors have pushed the frontiers of current knowledge through a rich blend of theoretical and empirical analysis. The book breaks new grounds on a wide range of topics including: the habit-forming nature of credit repayment; the institutional strength and community-based role of microfinance institutions; the relationships between microcredit and informal credit markets; the pattern of long-term participation in microcredit programmes and the variety of loan use; the scaling up of microenterprises beyond subsistence; the "missing middle" in the credit market; and the prospects of linking micro-entrepreneurship with economic development.
