Advances in Web Based Learning - ICWL 2008

7th International Conference, Jinhua, China, August 20-22, 2008, Proceedings

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Web-Based Learning, ICWL 2008, held in Jinhua, China, in August 2008. The 52 revised full papers presented together with 1 invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from 170 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on adaptation of e-learning technologies and policies, learning resource management, e-learning experiences, assessment and its supporting systems, tools and experiences for learning C programming language, game-based learning, frameworks and platforms for e-learning, multimedia technologies for learning, on-line discussion forum and community, collaborative learning, semantics and ontology, interfaces for learning activity designs, as well as mobile and network technologies for learning.

The concepts of psychological bestirring and psychological distance in web-
based learning situation are proposed. Their significance and effects are
examined. An online learning performance model is constructed which employs
psychological bestirring as a new factor independent of the factor of information
stimulation. Logistic equation and curve is suggested as its fundamental
mathematic model. The model was then used to explain the restriction of
psychological distance on the ...

Modelling, Computation and Optimization in Information Systems and Management Sciences

Second International Conference MCO 2008, Metz, France - Luxembourg, September 8-10, 2008, Proceedings

In this paper we describe how the co-author network, which is built from the
bibliographic records, can be incorporated into the process of personal name
language classification. The model is tested on the DBLP data set. The results
show that the extension of the language classification process with the co-author
network may help to refine the name language classification obtained from the
author names considered independently. It may also lead to the discovery of
dependencies ...

Modelling Foundations and Applications

6th European Conference, ECMFA 2010, Paris, France, June 15-18, 2010, Proceedings

Domain Specific Modeling Languages (DSML) are more and more used to
handle high level concepts, and thus bring complex software development under
control. The increasingly recurring definition of new languages raises the
problem of the definition of support tools such as editor, simulator, compiler, etc.
In this paper we propose generative technologies that have been designed to
ease the development of model animation tools inside the TopCased platform.
These tools rely on ...

Entity-Relationship Approach - ER '94. Business Modelling and Re-Engineering

13th International Conference on the Entity-Relationship Approach, Manchester, United Kingdom, December 13 - 16, 1994 Proceedings

This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 13th International Conference on the Entity-Relationship Approach, ER '94, held in Manchester, UK in December 1994. The ER '94 book is devoted to business modelling and re-engineering and provides a balanced view between research and practical experience. The 34 full revised papers presented are organized in sections on business process modelling, enterprise modelling, systems evolution, modelling integrity constraints, object-oriented databases, active databases, CASE, reverse engineering, information system modelling, schema coordination, and re-engineering.

This paper proposes to integrate constraint languages with the declarative
specifications of their integrity repair actions. We introduce a rather powerful,
predicate-based language for specifying integrity constraints, then we discuss the
semantics of repair actions as computations which react to constraint violations,
then we establish sufficient conditions for ensuring their termination, and finally
we show how repair actions can be integrated in the SQL2 standard and
implemented by ...

Modelling -- Foundation and Applications

7th European Conference, ECMFA 2011, Birmingham, UK, June 6-9, 2011, Proceedings

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th European Conference on Modelling Foundations and Applications, held in Birmingham, UK, in June 2011. The 19 revised full foundations track papers and 5 revised full applications track papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 61 submissions; also included are 5 workshop summaries and abstracts of 4 tutorials. The papers are organized in topical sections on model execution, model analysis, methodology, model management, model transformation, variability analysis and ADLs, and domain-specific modeling.

Recent years have seen a proliferation of languages for describing embedded
systems. Some of these languages have emerged from domain-specific
frameworks, and some are adaptions or extensions of more general-purpose
languages. In this paper, we focus on two widely- used standard languages: the
Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AADL) and the Systems Modeling
Language (SysML). AADL was born as an avionics-focused domain-specific
language and later ...
