Mechanical Powered Portable Charger for Disaster Recovery

Design and Development Using Hand Cranking DC Motor and Arduino Microcontroller

This book presents the development of mechanical powered portable charger to charge mobile phone during disaster recovery. It emphasizes on efficient mechanical energy harvesting circuit for charging mobile phone battery with the utilization of intermediate battery. In this book, Sealed Lead-Acid (SLA) or dry battery was selected as an intermediate battery to protect the Lithium Ion battery which is very sensitive to overcharging and discharging. Three modules are employed in this book, including a DC/DC boost converter circuit, SLA charging circuit and mobile phone charging circuit utilizing Arduino microcontroller. During disaster, main power supply will be interrupted. If only the victims can communicate through their mobile phone, there will be high chance that they can be rescued by the rescue team. Note that, the portable cell tower can be set up by the relevant authorities during disaster. This book can benefit government, NGO, or volunteers during disaster, as well as many people in disaster prone area.

An Integrated Approach

Biomedical images, such as X-ray, CT scan, MRI, etc., are extensively used in diagnosis of diseases, research & teaching in medical science, administration & management of hospital, information for the third party like medico-legal situation & health insurance, and so on. An integrated and efficient biomedical image management system is very essential for the modern healthcare system. In this regard, a prototype system is designed using Java Server Pages in the frontend and MySQL in the backend. And it is applied in three hospitals, named Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Hospital Selayang, and Hospital Kuala Lumpur. From these three case studies, it is seen that our designed biomedical image management system possesses several attractive features including user friendly, secured and stable, extensible and able to support all image modality, integrated with the hospital information system.

Development of an Uncertainty Methodology for Nuclear Applications

A new uncertainty methodology for not only nuclear engineering but also other disciplines is developed. This uncertainty methodology is analyzed by OECD/US-NRC Full Size Fine Mesh Bundle Tests (BFBT). Void distribution and critical power data for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR)bundles are utilized for the sensitivity and uncertainty analyses. Cumulative Distribution Functions for commonly used in two phase flow thermal hydraulic problems are developed and used as the inputs for the methodology. In addition Spanning Algorithm selects the limiting experimental cases to bound the experimental database. Finally, uncertainty methodology's feedback mechanism and flexibility provides a powerful tool for analyzers.

Spiritual Intelligence

Spiritual intelligence is the platform against which we asses the usefulness of one life path or the need to change the particular direction one's actions are taking. Research in this phenomenon reveals the fact that spiritual intelligence allows collective thought or wholeness in thinking. Consequently, those who employ this particular type of intelligence do not just focus on themselves as the basis for deciding on particular decisions. Instead, they would consider the effect that their actions have on other persons. This type of intelligence makes individuals aware of the fact that they are connected to other human beings.

Swot Analysis of Ip Multimedia Sub System Security Authentication

SWOT analysis is performed on IMS security authentication schemes to demonstrate the effectiveness of each schemes in terms of multiple parameters and associated dependencies for users and network operators. Due to SWOT tool we have been able to describe strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats in each authentication scheme separately. The analysis performed mostly based on the state of art studies, SWOT tool itself approximates authentication schemes but in the discussion chapter we illustrated clearly what is necessary to adopt individually between Non SIM and SIM base authentication schemes. It will help network operators to choose the most appropriate authentication technology/technologies for design and implementation.

Liveable Cities

Integrating Green Spaces In Urban Planning

Urban green spaces are an important element in structure of cities. From these spaces can be named as the urban breathing lungs that they have various functions such as: City beautification, environmental modulators and leisure. Also green space is as important and valuable criterion due to environmental, social, cultural and economic functions. Now days is panned, regardless of urban natural potential that we are seeing their effects in our cities. Studding of natural - environmental criterion is one of the basic steps for planning of green space that is led to sustainable city. The goal of this book, showing important green urban space in cities today, also, writer believed one factor in order to achieving livable city, is green cities. On the other hand, planning in order to developing parks and urban green spaces by sustainable development approach, also, finally, was proposed strategies in order improving urban environment quality . This book has been proposed in three sections. In chapter 1, was studied importance of green space and chapter 2 review literature of parks making in Europe, America and Iran. At finally was analyzed urban green spaces in iran .

Schema Building Activities in L2 Reading and Listening Comprehension

This book is a theoretical review as well as an empirical analysis of the effects of linguistic, formal, and content schema building activities on L2 listening and reading comprehension. In the first two chapters, the theoretical aspects of the issue are reviewed. The next three chapters elaborate on an empirical attempt to describe the nature of the relationships among the aforementioned factors. The results of the empirical analysis seem to suggest that although there are no statistically significant differences among the different types of schema building activities, they are all significantly more conducive to the development of both L2 listening and reading comprehension than the control condition. The findings of the present study may have theoretical as well as practical implications for language learners, teachers, and syllabus designers.

How Loyalty Effect Consumer Credit Risk?

How Loyalty Effect Consumer Credit Risk? There were many earlier studies regarding loyalty concept and its relationship to the level of sales, financial performance and market share in banking and consumer credit industry. However, there has not been a study that specifically link between loyalty to credit risk, one of the most important factors in consumer credit portfolio performance measurement. The purpose of this study was to further test, how loyalty effect consumer credit risk? A loyal customer with financial stress, will they still make a payment and perform a better payment pattern then the less loyal one? What can be done to improve loyalty from customer's demography perspective and thus improve profitability ? Those questions will be the main topic to be answered with simple approach through Path Analysis, Multiple Regression, K-means Algorithm and ANOVA. All questions were solved with significant evidence.

Handbook of Cosmetology

From time immemorial, people have used cosmetics to enhance their personal appeal by using different kinds of preparations. According to the drug and cosmetics act, the Cosmetics are defined as the articles which are intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, sprayed, introduced in, or otherwise applied to the human body for cleansing, protecting, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or altering appearance. The cosmetics which are widely used now a days include tooth paste, tooth powders, mouth washes, shampoos, nail polishes and nail polish removers, face powders, cold creams, vanishing creams and talcum powder etc. Most cosmetics are safe for use by most people but adverse reactions occur in many cosmetics such as deodorants/antiperspirants, hair removers, hair sprays, eye creams, hair colour/dye lighteners, facial skin creams/cleansers and nail polishes.
