Pertumbuhan ini seiring dengan semakin meningkatnya jumlah UKM ( Usaha Kecil Menengah ) batik, sejak batik Indonesia diakui oleh UNESCO sebagai warisan budaya Indonesia pada Tahun 2009. UNESCO menilai bahwa batik Indonesia selain menjadi ikon budaya bangsa juga memiliki keunikan serta simbol dan filosofi yang mendalam. Menurut UNESCO, batik adalah warisan kemanusiaan untuk budaya lisan dan non bendawi (Masterpieces of oral and intangible cultural heritage of humanity) dari Indonesia.Kini bisa kita lihat hampir seluruh daerah di Indonesia telah mengembangkan potensi batik yang dimilikinya. Potensi ini akan menjadi salah satu kekuatan luar biasa di sektor industri kreatif jika digarap dengan serius. Studi / penelitian yang disampaikan dalam buku ini menginvestigasi peran inovasi dalam memediasi pengaruh orientasi kewirausahaan, kemampuan manajemen dan berbagi pengetahuan terhadap kinerja bisnis UKM batik di Jawa Timur.Buku ini berasal dari disertasi Sri Wahyu Lelly Hana yang diedit menjadi buku ilmiah umum oleh Gatot Soedarto, ayah kandungnya.
