Alasan rentenis penolong pedagang kecil, antara lain: 1. Keuntungan. Dengan meminjamkan uang Rp100.000 dengan bunga 20 persen, maka keuntungnnya per satu bulan Rp20.000, sedangkan pedagang kecil dengan modal Rp100.000 hasil pinjaman dari rentenir keuntungan per hari sebesar 100 persen (100 x 30 hari = Rp3.000.000 per bulan, jadi dengan modal uang Rp100.000 keuntungan rentenir hanya Rp20.000 per bulan sedangkan pedagang kecil Rp3.000.000 per bulan. 2. Besarnya modal. Rentenir pada umumnya modal kerjanya Rp10.000.000, semua dipinjam pedagang kecil dengan bunga 20 persen, keuntungan Rp20.000.000, dari angsuran lalu dipinjamkan lagi sebesar Rp5.000.000, keuntungan Rp1.000.000, sehingga dari Rp5.000.000, keuntungan rentenir Rp3.000.000, padahal pedagang kecil dengan modal Rp100.000 hasil pinjaman dari rentenir, keuntungan Rp3.000.000, jadi dengan modal rentenir Rp15.000.000 dengan modal pedagang kecil Rp100.000, keuntungannya sama yaitu Rp3.000.000 per bulan. 3. Jumlah peminjam. Rentenir dari modal Rp15.000.000 telah meminjamkan kepada pedagang kecil sebanyak 150 orang dengan keuntungan per hari tiap pedagang kecil sebesar Rp3.000.000, seluruhnya menghasilkan keuntungan 150 orang pedagang kecil x Rp3.000.000 = Rp450.000.000 per bulan. 4. Rentenir dari modal kerja sebesar Rp15.000.000 dengan keuntungan Rp3.000.000 per bulan, dibandingkan dengan pedagang kecil dengan keuntungan Rp3.000.000 per bulan, dengan jumlah peminjam sebanyak 150 orang pedagang kecil dengan keuntungan Rp450.000.000, apakah dapat dikatakan rentenir pengisap darah atau riba bukan justru rentenir sebagai penolong pedagang kecil terutama di pasar tradisional. 5. Kemudahan lainnya, meminjam uang dengan rentenir sangat mudah yang tidak berbelit-belit, tanpa agunan, menolong membeli buku-buku pada saat anak masuk ajaran baru. 6. Tiga buku.
