The Islamic faith’s beliefs and attitudes concerning violence are addressed in this evocative study from a renowned Muslim scholar. Because Islam has increasingly become associated with bloodshed in the popular mindset within the past decade—as a result of such events as 9/11 and the continuing conflict in Israel and Palestine—topics including jihad, holy war, and terror are all addressed in this survey that argues that Islam does not inherently produce or condone violence. Explaining that current hostilities do not reflect the views of most Muslims, proposed strategies for eliminating these problems in various global regions are also provided.
