Tujuan utama saya menulis ke publik adalah untuk menyingkirkan konsepsi yang salah bahwa Qur’an Suci bercerita seperti yang diceritakan Alkitab atau tradisi Yahudi dan Kristen. Untuk maksud inilah, saya akan membandingkan kisah dalam Qur’an Suci dengan versi yang terdapat dalam Alkitab, tradisi Yahudi dan Kristen. Kita telah mendapatkan bahwa catatan-catatan dan rekaman terdahulu menggambarkan bahwa para Nabi mempunyai karakter yang rendah, dan Qur’an Suci membersihkan tuduhan tersebut. Kitab Suci seyogianya menceritakan bahwa para Nabi itu telah memperkaya nilai-nilai moral, dan menyingkirkan kontradiksi yang kita jumpai dalam cerita yang faktanya telah dimanipulasi atau tidak dipelihara keasliannya. Upaya berdasarkan bukti yang bersumber dari Wahyu Ilahi inilah, dan bukan dari catatan atau tradisi di mana sumber para Nabi mungkin saja dapat diperoleh, akan dibahas dalam buku ini. Dengan menyingkirkan kekotoran yang dilekatkan kepada para nabi ini, maka Qur’an Suci telah mengembalikan tugas besar dari Alkitab itu sendiri. Ini sesuai dengan misi Qur’an Suci.

This book brings together a variety of approaches to English corpus linguistics and shows how corpus methodologies can contribute to the linking of diachronic and synchronic studies. The articles in this volume investigate historical changes in the English language as well as specific aspects of Middle and Modern English and, moreover, of English dialects.
