Pembelajaran sains sejatinya merupakan pembelajaran terpadu yang berkenaan dengan peristiwa yang terjadi di alam dan sekitarnya. Pembelajaran tersebut menekankan bagaimana pembelajar memahami berbagai permasalahan yang terjadi di sekitar berserta solusinya. Sebagai contoh, pembelajar menyadari adanya masalah pencemaran udara serta bahayanya, maka diharapkan pembelajar dapat memikirkan solusi untuk penanggulangan pencemaran tersebut. Pembelajar tidak hanya memerlukan teori, namun juga aktivitas nyata di laboratorium. Oleh karena itu, adanya laboratorium sangat signifikan untuk mendukung pembelajaran sains yang terarah dan terpadu. Dalam implementasinya, berbagai permasalahan yang terkait sains dapat diselesaikan dalam laboratorium. Laboratorium adalah tempat dimana seseorang melakukan riset ilmiah, pengukuran atau pelatihan ilmiah. Kebutuhan sarana laboratorium dari berbagai disiplin ilmu akan menjadi efektif apabila dilakukan secara terintegrasi. Salah satu pendekatan dalam pembelajaran yang terintegrasi adalah STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). STEM memungkin-kan pembelajar untuk mempelajari konsep akademik secara tepat dengan menerapkan 4 disiplin ilmu yaitu, Sains, Teknologi, Keahlian Teknik dan Matematika.

Approaches to Inclusive English Classrooms

A Teacher’s Handbook for Content-Based Instruction

This book provides educators with an accessible guide to best practices concerning content-based instruction (CBI) models and their use in English learner inclusive classrooms. The author effectively bridges the gap between theory and practice with a critical analysis of practical examples and diverse strategies for the inclusion of English learners into K-12 general education courses. The book also raises controversial questions regarding who is qualified to teach English learners and who is responsible for doing so, looking at the difficulties faced by both general educators and ESL teachers in Inclusive Classrooms. By providing a lens through which both ESL teachers and general educators are able to analyze, compare and contrast a range of widely-employed CBI methods, this book allows teachers to make informed decisions in their EL program development and work with English learners in K-12 schools.

English Learning Made Easy- Strategies and Approaches

Books are always our best companion. The idea of writing or editing a book remains always in our mind. Our students come from semi-urban background and not very fluent in English reading, writing and speaking. English is not just a Second language to them, but it is completely a foreign language to the rural background pupils. So, we research innovative techniques to make them familiar. This continuous research motivates us to edit a book on the topic. We can well see the potential of the book as it is not just about the ‘Teaching’ of English but basically about ‘Learning’ English as such. But of course it will be very helpful for ELT, per se. The book making is a long process and it needs a careful study of area, topics and research methodologies, along with very intensive and extensive genuine research work before we start. The very first thing which struck our mind was to choose the topic which could be beneficial for students and teachers both. Our undergraduate students, who actually lack Basic English speaking, reading and writing standard, gave us many new topics to write. They and their problems motivated us to collect opinions of our fellow colleagues on the wider perspectives of the chosen topic and edit a book on the subject. We have endeavored to cover many areas which need to be given emphasize when we teach or learn English. Our main focus is to give tricks and useful tips to enhance and learn English as a second language.
