Upaya untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah rumput laut (Eucheuma cottonii) perlu dilakukan dengan cara mengolah rumput laut menjadi berbagai produk yang memiliki nilai tambah tinggi, antara lain alkali treated cotonii (ATC). Produk yang dibutuhkan oleh berbagai industri ini masih banyak diperoleh diperoleh secara impor. Padahal, ATC bisa diproduksi sendiri. Di dalam buku ini diuraikan secara rinci mengenai teknik mengolah rumput laut Eucheuma cottonii menjadi ATC, mulai dari tahap awal berupa pemilihan bahan baku, pembersihan dan sortasi, perendaman dalam alkali panas, pencucian, pengeringan dan pemotongan, hingga pengemasan produk ATC.
