The Valley of the Mississippi Illustrated in a Series of Views

In drawings and charmingly quaint prose, the attractions of the great valley were
detailed-St. Louis, Cahokia, Alton, Kaskaskia, the Cathedral, the Courthouse,
Monks Mound, Piasau Rock. “The Valley of the Mississippi” was first published as
a series of monthly pamphlets “each number containing four views at $1 per

In 1948 a limited edition of 300 copies was reprinted from the original pages.
